Without interrupting my law practice, I served as El Paso County Commissioner from 1995 to 2003. During that time, I collaboratively led Colorado's implementation of Welfare Reform and Child Welfare Reform and represented the National Association of Counties before Congress.
Since 1985 my wife and I have run Wings Like Eagles, a small nonprofit teaching leadership and Christian character to youth. I recently received a Lifetime Service Award from the Colorado Republican Party. I have volunteered for many organizations and non-profits over the years. I
facilitate a weekly men's Bible study, and have been an elder in my local church.
I am an avid skier and mountain biker.
In a prior career, I practiced architecture and managed architectural research in energy conservation and solar energy.
